The joys of form filling

It's that time again. Time to reapply for our residency. Sigh....Double sigh. Last year we had been very lucky to have the secretary at Greg's work helping us out, ringing the right people, razzing the other people etc... But this year we were on our own as the secretary had left and there was no replacement.

Greg spent weeks trying to catch the top guy at his job, to fill in our form and give it the literal stamp of approval. Weeks of walking up many flights of stairs, crossing over to the right building only to find, an empty office.

Whilst Greg was in Czechoslavaki, this lovely job was delegated to me. Only I was in luck. Not only was the office not empty but there was a secretary/administrator in the seat. Yay. i still had to come back a few times and not all the form had been filled in, they weren't sure what to right on one of the lines etc.... Only to find out, that we didn't need any stamps, signatures or what not. All that was needed was to put an "X" in the right box. Ugh!

Hopefully, now that we've done it twice, we'll know what to do next year. What's the odds they'll use new and improved and even less understandable forms next year?

Indulging in Chick Flicks

Sadly Greg was away in Czechoslavakia for a few days. So Jordy I decided to take this opportunity to have a chickflickfest. I had recently discovered an untapped source of library dvd's. Library dvd's are great. It's only 1 euro for 2 weeks.

We started with the Princess Diaries where Jordy rediscovered why she liked this movie so much. Next up was "O". Jordy had grabbed this movie because it had Julia Stiles in it. When cautioned to read the back of the dvd by her very wise but hardly ever listened to mother, Jordan said she didn't care what it was about because it had Julia Stiles in it.

Well she soon learned that she should've listened to her mum. If only she would hold on to this knowledge of her mum's wisdom for future reference. Sigh. That movie was so dark, I likened it to Shakespeare. We were left in a bit of a funk after that so we decided to try and lift the mood a little with another movie- "Love Song for Bobby Long". It had a nice ending, so we were happy.
