The Belgian Cafe

We felt a little naughty for not eating the local cuisine, but I had a hankering for some Waterzooi, and I even thought a Hoegaarden would go down nicely too.

As you can see, the rellies didn't mind at all. All in all, it was a nice way to wind up a long day. But just to make it extra specially nice, we stopped at the chocolate shop on the way home. Heh heh heh.

The Blue Church

After our first visit to Bratislava, we haven't really felt any need to visit or find new sights. Seeing if their were any new flavours to try at our favourite chocolate shop, has pretty much fulfilled all the sights we've been interested in.

So, it was nice to see something new on this trip. Although small, the blue church is nevertheless lovely. It also had this rather interesting...sculpture?monument? thingy out front. It would have been nice to have a bit of info about it.
There are 3 small pictures on the front of it. On the end is a picture of a family. And on the other end is an anatomical diagram of a heart. Eeurgh.

Bratislava-UFO

We stopped for a drink on the way down, and we all tried to squeeze ourselves into the one tiny spot of shade there. It was very pretty with the miniature roses draped along the back of the wall.

What I like about the view from the UFO, is that you get a really good view of the old city, and the newer city. It makes a nice contrast.

At the top of the UFO is also a restaurant. Every time we go, we keep hoping that the prices there will be a little more reasonable, but no luck yet.

But from the top, we spotted a nice looking restaurant just a stone's throw away.

Bratislava - The Castle

Once you get to the city, your eye is naturally drawn to the castle which is of course built at the highest point, which isn't actually that high but anyway. It was a stinking hot day, so it made the walk up feel a little steeper than it was.
So we were unimpressed when we reached the castle, to find that it was closed for renovations for 5 years. Doh. We consoled ourselves by perusing the only thing that was open, the tourist shop.

There is also a very nice view. Next on the list, the U.F.O. If you are on a bit of a budget, then you can safely skip the UFO as the view from there is just as good as the view from the castle.
