Sweet 16

So Jordan's sweet 16 now.

What is it about turning 16 that seems so special? Is it that a whole new legal world opens up for you, i.e.getting married, age of consent, in some countries the drinking of beer and wine;being allowed to buy cigarettes, and rent certain movies.

Or is it more that because of being suddenly legal for a whole slew of things, you feel like an adult? I just asked my current expert, Jordan and the only answer she could give me, 'because it's sweet 16'. So maybe it's just the hype that makes it seem so special. I know Jordan was a bit disappointed that when she turned that 'magical' age, she didn't feel any different.

When I look back, I remember turning 16 with a kind of misty-eyed fondness. But what made it so special was my friends. I seem to recall receiving some very adult undergarments but it's the sharing of this moment with my friends that sticks in my mind the most.
